chord is not a replacement for song's tune. Tune is different and should be represented by notations. In other words chords and music notations are not same, though it might have harmony here and there. So you cannot convert chords to notations and play it as a song.

You might argue saying there are few people just play chords on guitar for a song - in-fact they are not playing the complete song using full notations - they just play chord that matches the tune portion and the listener get a nice feeling that guitarist is playing the whole song..
